Getting Started

Starting to plan a kitchen or bath renovation is exciting and we feel that it’s a process that should be enjoyed. Like most, you have probably been dreaming about your new space for a while and some of the things you’re probably thinking about are:

  1. Could your present space be improved to work better for you?

Perhaps you’d like to move some things around, gain more storage or countertop space? Maybe you’ve considered tearing down a wall or adding a pass-through?

  1. What does your dream kitchen or bathroom look like?

One of the best things you can do early on is to gather a collection of kitchen or bathroom photos where you like the look and feeling the space gives you. You can look in some kitchen magazines and rip out pages, or use online tools like Pinterest and Houzz. Once you start working with a designer, they can look at those photos and get a sense of what you gravitate towards so they can incorporate those elements into your design.

  1. Think about your budget and your long term plans

Experts recommend spending between 10-15% of the value of your home on a kitchen renovation. It is the number one renovation that retains its value when it’s time to sell. You might be looking at making different design decisions for what you love versus what will sell. Is this your forever home, or a stepping stone?

Once you have spent time mulling over different ideas, the next step would be to start getting to know a few companies to figure out who would be the best fit for you. When it comes to a kitchen or bathroom renovation, the design is the most important element. Even more important than the products and installation. Finding a designer that understands what you are looking for and with whom you feel you are getting good advice, suggestions and direction AND is backed by a company whose services and values align with yours, will result in a superior experience.

Because we think design is the most important aspect, we always have you meet with a designer initially. They will work to get to know you, discuss your needs, and brainstorm ideas to infuse creativity into your space. It’s great if you can bring in some measurements or photos of your space although that is a step that can come later. Feel free to call ahead to book an appointment or come by the showroom to meet us.

We have a ton of information throughout our website that we encourage you to peruse. However nothing compares to meeting face to face with one of our designers to talk about your style, your space and what changes you hope to make. Big changes bring excitement, enjoyment, and their share of challenges. It is our job to make the process as smooth as possible for you.

We’d love to meet you!
